Aristippus



A Greek philosopher who, wanting to show his wisdom and humility, garbed himself with an old robe, full of patches and holes. In this manner he walked the streets of Athens clutching the staff of philosophy. When Socrates saw him approaching he exclaimed, "Oh, Aristippus, your vanity shows through the holes in your garment."
