Kartikeya

Kartikeya(Sanskrit कार्त्तिकेय) A Hindu symbol of the warrior aspect of divinity, known in other religions as Ares, Mars, Samael, etc. Kartikeya is the second son of Shiva and Parvati. His brother is Ganesha. Kartikeya is also known as Shadanana, Guha, Murugan, Shantakumar, Subramanya, Skanda, and Sanmukha ("six faces"). Kartikeya was created by the gods to be their defender, and to lead the divine armies to kill the demons (a symbol of our egos). Kartikeya is very fierce and said to be the most masculine and attractive of all the gods. While his brother Ganesh removes obstacles, Skanda gives religious powers, and the power of knowledge (Gnosis, Daath). He rides a peacock into battle, a Tantric symbol of the ability to transform poison (the ego) into medicine (spirituality, consciousness).
